Al MacDonald, a long time member of the JDF Masters, passed away on Wednesday October 13, 2021. Al, who was 73, fought a long battle with mesothelioma.

He joined the JDF team in the 1980s playing many positions, including goalkeeper, until the mid-2010s.

Al served on the executive for many years, holding several positions, including president. He was always available to help out with the various club activities (fundraising, tournaments and social events).

In addition, he was a referee and spent many of his weekends officiating at games throughout Vancouver Island.

Since his youth, Al played both soccer and baseball on the island and made many, many acquaintances along the way. It was almost certain that, wherever you went, Al would bump into someone he knew.

He will be greatly missed.
